Financial Analyst

Description

We are currently seeking a full-time Financial Analyst position with a strong finance and technology background to support the adoption of the upcoming IFRS 17 financial reporting standard for insurance contracts. This position reports to the Interim Chief Financial Officer. 

Responsibilities
  • Actively participate in an agile environment, solutioning complex issues, contribute to successful completion of accounting projects 
  • Document accounting procedures, controls and data flows that integrates cross-functionally with other systems and processes 
  • Support accounting project lead in developing business specifications and accounting processes 
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Technology in transforming source data for system ingestion 
  • Execute end-to-end testing plan, reconcile results, and trouble-shoot variances 
  • Assist in process improvement initiative, develop, and maintain documents on processes and controls 
  • Support annual budgeting and planning process; prepare and maintain financial forecast, analysis, and management reports 
  • Support in the development financial KPIs, analytical reports, month end closing, and year-end audit 
  • Provide timely, accurate financial insight to facilitate management review and decision-making process 
Requirements
  • Three years of relevant experience in a financial industry 
  • Bachelor’s degree if Finance, Accounting or Business required, CPA designation considered an asset 
  • Strong consultative, communication skills; ability to drive transformational change 
  • Experience in working with IT organization 
  • Expertise in data manipulation and financial modeling using Microsoft applications 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; Experience in data analytics and demonstrated use of large data sets to facilitate decision making 
  • Strong Technical expertise in Microsoft Applications
